About Dr. Kasper

I am a licensed professional counselor working in private practice in Galveston, Texas.  I work with clients around a variety of issues including, trauma, depression, anxiety, grief and loss, relationship issues, and personal growth.  I am passionate about my work and I believe therapy can facilitate emotional development and create clarity and change. My commitment is to helping clients live a life that is more meaningful and vibrant.  Rather than just feeling better, my focus is on helping clients live better.

I hold a Master’s Degree in Psychology.  In addition to being a practicing psychotherapist I am a personal coach and trainer in issues of PTSD, Crisis Intervention, Trauma, Racism and Diversity, Generational Differences, Conflict Resolution, Stress and Wellness.  I also hold a Ph.D. in Adult Learning with an emphasis on looking at racial identity.  The primary focus of my professional and community experiences is in the area of diversity.

My treatment approach is strength based, educational, and solution focused.  I strongly believe that within a collaborative and supportive treatment environment, clients have the capacity to effectively identify goals and work through issues.  I draw from a variety of theoretical models to help accomplish goals including:  Cognitive-Behavioral, Family systems theory, and I work within a philosophical base reflecting a combination of social constructivism and social justice.
